Stand Against White Supremacy
UTICA – On August 11th, hundreds of white supremacists gathered in Charlottesville, VA for a “Unite the Right” rally. Unlike most events and actions these neo-Nazis have organized in recent past, most times ending in embarrassing failures, this time, members were able to bring out an organized force intent on inflicting violence on our people. They came with torches and Nazi slogans. Counter protesters were surrounded, beaten, maced and, in one case, murdered. These white supremacists were among the most vocal in the country but they are not the only ones.
If you are heartbroken and enraged by the horrific fascist attack on righteous protesters in Charlottesville, join us in defending our community.
We gather to ensure that the voices of those who oppose fascist agenda can be heard above those of the white supremacists. We gather in solidarity with those brave counter protesters from Charlottesville and those whose lives are threatened daily because of their marginalized status. We gather to oppose a hateful, murderous and terroristic ideology.
Our action will take place on Friday, August 18th, 5-7 pm at the Christopher Columbus statue on the parkway. You are encouraged to bring signs and speak up.
A planning meeting will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 PM at Cornerstone Community Church located at 500 Plant Street in Utica.
