by Workers’ Center of CNY/Press Release
On Wednesday, November 2, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, there will be a Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead celebration and fundraiser at the Workers’ Center of CNY (2013 E Genesee St.).
Come to the Workers’ Center and learn about the Day of the Dead tradition and honor those who dedicated their lives to creating a better world for everybody. We will honor the dead but also continue to fight like hell for the living! We will be making altars, have live music, Mexican and Central American food, and make-your-own Day of the Dead arts and crafts. The Workers’ Center is also celebrating our ten year anniversary so we will be accepting donations. There is a $10 suggested donation. Part of the proceeds will go to the #Buffalo25. This last week, The Immigration Customs and Enforcement agency (ICE) raided four Mexican restaurants in Buffalo, NY and detained twenty-five undocumented workers. ICE separated their families, ransacked their homes, and stole their savings. They are in need of support for rent, food, and legal fees so part of the funds will go to support these workers and their families.
More information for the event can be found here.
