CLEVELAND, OH – As the Republican National Convention kicked off at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland this past week, Love and Rage traveled to the city to document some of the demonstrations being held.

It was a relatively quiet event as police forces from several states kept a close eye on attendees, tourists and demonstrators.

On this particular day, Wednesday July 20th, demonstrations were mild with only one incident of note between the Cleveland PD and members of the Revolutionary Communist Party. According to police reports from local news, as the RCP attempted to burn a flag, one of the demonstrators set themselves on fire and began to fight with police as they tried to help put it out.

Two members Love and Rage witnessed the event and cannot recall worries about fire spreading among the people. The police also utilized the help of private citizens of the Bikers for Trump group to close arrest areas off from the media and other onlookers. Some of the bikers intentionally obstructed the lenses of media at the scene.
